College Football picks 10/25 Part 2

Here are the rest of my sides.

Check me on twitter @swicatsides for in game commentary and some potential live bets.

5 Star Pick

Ole Miss/LSU under 44.5

Top Picks

Ole Miss -3.5 vs. LSU
Mich St over 47.5 & Team Total over 31.5
Ohio St -13,5 vs Penn St

Leans:

Miss St -14,5 vs Kentucky
Utah -1 vs USC

Ole Miss- I have read the talk that Ole Miss is headed for a let down spot here. I don't see it. Ole Miss is for the first time in a long time better than LSU so they will not be anything but 100% on winning in Death Valley. Conversely, LSU knows that Ole Miss will be bringing it tonight and they do not want to get embarrased at home like they did against Miss. St so they will be well prepared. Both teams are better on defense than offense so that leads me to a very low scoring game, Neither team will take too many chances and risk turnovers until we get late in the game. By then, the under will be well in hand. I do like Ole Miss to win the slugfest by at least 7 so lay the 3.5 as well.

Mich St- Unlike the game above, the air has gone out of this rivalry. MSU's offense has been red hot and might get the game total by themselves especially if Michigan is trying to pass the ball a lot. This should be a good one for the Green backers not so much for Blue ones.

Ohio St- This is another team that is on fire. I like the Buckeyes to force some key turnovers here as Penn St will need to get out of their comfort zone to keep pace with OSU. This game will be close for a while but the Buckeyes will take care of business.

Miss St- I am not too concerned about Miss St being flat here but Kentucky is kind of a dangerous team and will make a game of it. I like MSU to pull away lat though.

Utah- I have been going back and forth on this one. Ultimately, I like the Utes to use the home field advantage and power running game to put away the Trojans and get an overdue signature win at home.

College Football Picks 10/25 Part 1

Alright, alright good Saturday last week except for the 5 star play but overall a winning Saturday.

Back at it today with these picks!

I will be back with several afternoon and evening games!

Top Picks

Memphis -23 and Team Total over 37
San Jose St +9  and Team Total over 21.5
Kansas St -9.5 vs Texas

Leans

Illinois +4 vs. Minnesota
Virginia +7.5 vs North Carolina

Memphis- I am back on the fade SMU bandwagon. Memphis is sitting on a 3-3 record due to the tough schedule they have played. They need to stack up wins in conference and will put SMU early and then pile on for some style points. Jump on Memphis today.

San Jose st- Situational play here, Nayy will be looking ahead to ND no matter what they. Knowing Navy, they will still put together a solid effort but SJ St will be able to move the ball and keep this game close.

Kansas St- It's not too often that K St is the superior team to Texas. I expect K St to play well and have an all afternoon party at the expense of Texas.

Illinois- Upset alert! Too many people are talking about Minnesota in the Big10 championship game. Sorry that is not gonna happen and the gophers will return to earth in this one. Illinois will put their best effort forward and don't be shocked by an SU win by the illini.

Virginia- Small play here simply based on the emerging scandal at UNC. This will be on the players mind for UNC and they will not be focused. Look for UVA to take advantage and get the cover here.

College Football Picks 10/18

Ctrl Alt Delete...

OK- time to reset a bit. Last two weeks, I got back into the bad habit of picking too many games. I am narrowing the list a bit this week.

Also, I will be attending the Northwestern/Nebraska game tomorrow and will be out of pocket most of the day so I am posting all my Saturday picks at once. Look for some adds on twitter- @swicatsides

5 Star

Oklahoma St +10 vs. TCU

Top Picks

Marshall -22 vs. Florida Atlantic
Ohio St/Rutgers over 62.5
Mich St/Indiana over 59

Leans

Duke -3 vs Virginia
Georgia/Arkansas over 54
Ole Miss/Tenn under 46.5
Northwestern +6.5  vs Nebraska
Notre Dame +10 vs. Florida St

Writeups

Oklahoma St- I kinda hate to make this pick as I have TCU over in the season win totals. Before the season started, I pegged this as a win for TCU but TCU will be in a rough spot coming off a really emotional loss and now are facing another high powered offense. TCU will have to scrap to win this game and I really don't see them winning this game by anything more than a TD and I will be sprinkling some OK St on the $ line as they will be in this game.

Marshall- Another week, another outgunned opponent. Marshall will score at will and the only doubt will be if FAU has a chance at a backdoor cover.

Ohio St/Rutgers- The Buckeye offense is back. They will continue to roll against a Rutgers team that will try to play toe to toe with them. Not sure if the Buckeyes will cover the 22 however I do like this game to over very easily.

Mich St/Indiana- I think we need to realize that Mich St is an offensive oriented team this year and their defense is not dominant. Indiana will be pushing for another big upset and if that is to happen, they will need to outgun MSU. I will not surprised if Indiana gives them a battle in this one so jump on the over for the easy W.

Duke- This line seems a bit fishy however I imagine that some bettors like Virginia off a bye week. I like Duke to be fired up for this game and to relish the chance to beat Virginia at home. Duke's offense will be the difference here.

Georgia/Arkansas- Hard to say what the razorbacks will bring tomorrow but I think they will be effective running the ball against Georgia. Georgia on the other hand is always ready to mix it up and get in a scoring battle. Take the over and hope Arkansas does not drop the ball.

Ole Miss/Tenn- Ok, time to admit that Ole Miss has an awesome defense. They should have no problem holding Tenn down and the Vols will likely try to slow the game down as well and try to win the game late. I am a little concerned that Ole Miss may be able to force several turnovers and quick scores so I am making this one a lean vs a top pick.

Northwestern- Of course I need to have a side as I will be there but I do like Northwestern to bring strong effort in this one. HC Fitzgerald would love to beat Nebraska and he will have his team ready. Nebraska brings plenty of firepower so take the Cats but don't get too extended.

ND- This should be a good spot for ND. Florida has faced many offense oriented teams and ND will bring a strong defense to the game. This game will come down to turnovers and if ND can avoid them and create a couple then they will have a real shot to win the game straight up.

College Football Picks 10/11 Part 2

Here is my next round. May add a few west coast late picks on Twitter

5 Star

Alabama -9 vs Arkansas
USC -1.5 vs. Arizona
Texas A&M -3 vs Ole Miss

Top Picks

Mississippi st/Auburn over 63.5
Mississippi +1.5
Air Force +7.5 vs Utah St

Lean:

Michigan St -21,5 vs Purdue
TCU +7 vs. Baylor
Oregon/UCLA over 70.5

Sorry- no time for writeups at the moment.

College Football Picks Part 1 10/11

Had a bit of a struggle last Saturday. Ready to move on with plenty of winners today. Light card for the AM. Be sure to check back for part 2.

Top Picks

Marshall -23.5 vs Middle Tenn. St
Duke +2, +125 first half
Ga Tech -3.5 full game

Leans

Minnesota/NU under 44.5

Marshall- First, until someone stops them I am going to stay with them. Plus they have a revenge angle in play as well. I am expecting another blowout.

Ga Tech/Marshall- I expect Duke to come out well prepared and grab the early lead. However I do like Ga Tech to start to take control of this game and turn the tide and put it away in the 4th quarter. Take Duke first half and Tech for the game. If there is live betting on this game, look to get Ga Tech + points when they get down early.

Minnesota/NU- Neither team has shown a dynamic offense so I am rolling with the under here.

College Football Picks 10/4 Part 2

Here are my afternoon and evening plays:

5 Star Plays:

Georgia Tech -2 vs. Miami
Washington St -3 vs Cal

Top Plays

NIU -26 vs Kent St

Leans

Rutgers -2 vs Michigan
Pittsburgh +5.5 vs Virginia

Ga Tech- I really like Ga Tech's situation here. They are coming off rest and Miami is coming off two pretty tough games. Tech should be laying in wait for them. I like Tech's offense better this year than the last 2 where I thought their head coach was getting fancy and now has returned to the triple option without the extra bells and whistles. Miami has played pretty well on defense however their offense has been stagnant. I expect Tech's defense to slow Miami and for their offense to break through today in an easy win.

Washington St- Another situational play here. I was certainly happy to see Cal get win #3 last week however it took a momentous effort. A reason that they struggled against Colorado was they were flat from having made a similar momentous effort the week before against Arizona. Bottom line is that their tank will be empty and they are on the road this week and those add up to a bad loss for the Bears.

NIU- The Huskies finally return to DeKalb after 3 straight away games. They will be eager to get conference play underway and will make quick work of a Kent team that has not found any offensive rhythym,

Rutgers- Jumping on the anti Michigan bandwagon here. Perhaps Michigan can pull it together but I doubt it at this point.

Pittsburgh- Virginia playing the toughest schedule in the country will be trouble in this one. Pitt will come in confident and has had more rest which will pay dividend in this game. Take the points and put some money on the $ line as well.

College Football Picks 10/4 Part 1

Well had a profitable weekend last weekend on the back of a 5 star play. Looking for a big day today.
Starting out with these games.

Top Picks:

Marshall -19.5 vs ODU
Stanford -2.5 vs ND
Alabama/Ole Miss over 52.5\
Air Force +3.5 vs Navy
Northwestern/Wisconsin over 47

Leans:

Mississippi St -2.5 vs. Texas A&M
E. Carolina -41 vs SMU
Texas +14.5 vs. Baylor

Have at least one maybe 2, 5 stars plays coming up

Marshall- I made a mistake and went against the Thundering Herd earlier this year and got trampled. ODU is playing good ball and will put up a fight however they won't be able to hang with Marshall over the course of the game.

Stanford- This is pretty much based on the line. Vegas made the Cardinal a favorite on the road against a higher ranked team. Rolling with Vegas on this one.

Bama/Ole Miss- Both of these teams have been relying on their offenses to win. I expect that to continue today and this game gets over.

Air Force- Should be a good game. Both teams want this victory however I think the homefield will be the difference here and AF gets the SU victory.

Northwestern/Wisconsin- This should be another good game with 2 teams that do not like each other. I like both teams to be effcient in the red zone and come away with more TD's than FG's to get the over.

Miss. St- It seems like everyone is on the bulldogs which made me downgrade this to a lean. Nevertheless, Miss St is rested and will be ready. A&M will compete but ultimately will fall on the road.

E. Carolina- I have been on the anti SMU bandwagon and it has paid off. Staying with it as ECU should score at will but am a little concerned that they Pirates will call off the dogs too early in this one.

Texas- Charlie Strong will have a great game plan for this one. The question will be can his team execute. I say yes but will not get too carried away in case Baylor does get on a roll.
