Back to The Lab

It was nice to end my sports year on a high note.

Now it is time to hit the books and get ready for college football coming up on September 1st. I will have occasional posts on my early college football picks and try to see if I can update the site a bit as well as if I can get motivated to do something on Facebook or Twitter...or maybe not.

NBA Finals Game 6

Looking back at game 5, finally Dallas came through and shot the ball the way I thought they would in game 3.

Although I thought Miami would step up in game 5, their loss sets up my prediction for a Dallas series victory in 6 games.

If you look at the NBA playoffs, there are not a lot of teams that are able to come back when facing an elimination game. As a fan watching, you can see the players realizing with each missed shot, every time they give up a hoop and every empty possession that they are losing their grip.

Certainly teams can come back and have like the Lakers last year but they were defending champs and were mentally tough.

I do like Dallas to get the win tonight. I am going all in and bypassing the points and taking the Mavs on the money line at +190 and with the win will cash the series ticket and the game ticket.

This game will be over before it even starts. Although the Heat have had a successful season overall they have fallen short of expectations all year and this will be the final part of that collapse. Dallas has been resilient and will finish them off, watch the Heat crumble a piece at a time with every made jump shot by the mavs.

NBA Finals Game 5

Before I can move on to my game 5 pick, I have to give some commentary on game 4.

First, Lebron was pretty much a disgrace. Sorry to be over the top but if you are going around telling the world that you are a megastar and taking your talents to South Beach to win multiple championships then you can't not show up in the finals. I am not saying you have to score 30+ points or get a triple double but you need to at least be active make things happen. Everytime the Heat came down the court and I saw Kidd guarding Lebron I was waiting for the King to post him up and get an easy turnaround or get double teamed and find the open guy but repeatedly that did not happen.

Anyways I had to pile on since Lebron has brought all of this scrutiny on himself.

On to game 5. I still have Dallas winning the series but their play has been underwhelming. They need to find the next level and I have not seen much that shows me that they are going to.

With that said, I have to take Miami at a pick tonight. I do think LeBron will assert himself and unless Dallas gets hot then I think Miami pulls off the win.

I'd be happy to be wrong but Dallas has not played consistently enough for me to be confident in picking them.

NBA Finals Game 4

Well game 3 was a basic disaster from my point of view as one team seemed to score then take 5 minutes off while the other team scored and the total never came close to going over and then Dallas was unable to close it out at the end and did not cover either.

Looking at game 4, you can view it either as Dallas' chance to put together a full game and hit their shots consistently and take the game or as Miami seeing blood in the water and putting the series away with a win.

My pick is um, well...I am going to stick with Dallas and lay -3. I also am going to take another run at the over 186.5.

I am really surprised that Dallas' role players (Peja, Barrea) have not hit their shots. If they can get it going then they can give Miami something to think about. If not, then Miami will be all set to get the title.

NBA Finals Game 3

After a stunning comeback by the Mavs (that I appreciated quite a bit), it's time to move on to game 3.

I assume most people know that for the finals, the format changes from 2-2-1-1-1 to 2-3-2 which I never liked all that much because I think it give the higher seed a bigger advantage.

For Dallas, game 3 is not a pivotal as it is critical. For Miami, they of course would like to win game 3 but it is not critical.

With that said, I do think this game will be higher scoring than the first 2. Miami has expended a lot of energy on defense in the first 2 games and I am looking for a let down on the defensive side from that. Couple that with the Mav's comfort at playing at home and I think Dallas will score into the 100's.

I think Miami will score as well especially as they get farther in the game and both teams pick up the place.

Top Play - over 188.5

Also i am taking Dallas -2.

NBA Finals Game 2

Game 1 did not go as planned with Dallas shooting pretty poorly. Unlike the Bulls series when the Heat forced bad shots, game 1 Dallas just missed.

i am still sticking with my prediction that Dallas will win so I like them to win the game tonight.

Take the 4.5 points but I am playing the money line on Dallas +170.
