Chik Fil A Bowl Pick

Last side of the night for me.

Top Pick

Duke Team Total First Half over 16

I have debated whether to take Duke in this one however I think that A&M despite Johnny Football's potential indifference will be prepared. Their head coach is too good to let them come out and lay an egg.

Duke will be well prepared for this game especially on offense. Duke's head coach is an offensive guru and the Blue Devils will look like world beaters early in this one.

I think the easiest side here is Duke over first half.

Have a great New Year's eve!

Liberty Bowl Pick

Unders have been coming in at a ridiculous pace so far in this bowl season so this one makes me a bit queasy...

Top Picks

Mississippi St -7 and over 49

I give Rice a lot of credit, they have had a great season. Miss St has been up and down however they have been competitive in the SEC which counts for quite a bit.

I think this is a big game for Miss St HC Dan Mullens. He has had success but has not broken through. They were demolished in their bowl game last year and the Bulldogs faithful will not be happy with another loss, especially to a school like Rice.

Rice though will be playing loose and will make some big plays. Overall though, Miss St will work them over and get the cover and this game will make it over.

Sun Bowl Pick

Going with Va Tech Team Total over 20

I am expecting both teams to play pretty loose and for Va Tech to get a special teams or defensive score or at least setting up an easy score to push them over 20.

12/31 Bowl Picks Part 1

This is generally my favorite football day of the year. Watching football, grilling (no matter how cold) and then boozing into the new year.

Breaking these sides down 1 by 1.

Top Pick

BC +7.5 vs Zona - I have not played BC this season but gonna jump on them before its too late. They started out pretty slow however they have jelled as a team and have gotten better every week. Arizona looked like a player early in the year however their offense never got much better and there defense lacks the horses to shut teams down.

I don't expect a high scoring game and I do like BC to use the run game/play action enough to move the ball on Zona. Offensively, I don't think Zona will be very efficient in the red zone and BC gets the cover and will not be surprised if they win SU.

Back with the Sun Bowl soon.

Bowl Picks 12/30

Yet to get things really going in college however I really like these picks today so let's see if these jumpstart a winning streak.

Top Picks

Navy/Middle Tenn St over 57
Texas +14.5 vs Oregon
Texas Tech +14 vs. ASU

Navy/MTSU- Both of these teams are offensive centric and both play contrasting styles which will lead this game to go over. When getting ready for this game, neither team will have been able to duplicate the other's offense. Navy of course runs the triple option and MTSU has an air attack. With that said, both teams know that they will need to go with their strengths to win and not count on getting defensive stops.

The game may start out a bit slow but both teams will get their offenses in gear and this one flies over.

Texas- Beyond the Mack Brown story line, the truth is that Oregon is not all that is cracked up to be this year. They have struggled against physical teams and Texas is both physical and fast. Texas will be able to get to the Duck's QB more than most teams and that will disrupt the Ducks offense significantly. Offensively, the Longhorns will control the clock with a mixture of running and play action. Look for the Ducks to get frustrated and if you are feeling chippy, think about taking the Longhorns on the money line.

Texas Tech- After a tremendous start, the Red Raiders hit a big wall and stumbled down the stretch. I like for T. Tech to get back to basics in this one for them to get their offense humming again. ASU was a Jekyll and Hyde team. They were tremendous at home but no so great when away from home. Motivation also favors T. Tech a bit in this one. ASU had their eyes on a bigger prize while T. Tech is thrilled to be back in the bowl mix.

It will be a bit scary but T. Tech will cover the 2 TD's.

Poinsettia Bowl Pick

The big question in this game is "will NIU be interested?" I feel comfortable that they will be. NIU had a great run last year and of course went to a BCS game. Sure they would have liked another chance but I am pretty confident that this team wants to go out with a bowl no matter who it is against. With that...I am going with

Top Pick

NIU Pick vs Utah St

I really respect Utah St and was on them many times this year. However, when you look at their schedule, they never stepped up and beat a superior team. They came close however they never got over the hump.

This is a big game for the NIU coach who needs to keep momentum going into the offseason has he has many players to replace and needs another solid recruiting class.

Don't worry about the NIU mindset. They will finish the season off in style.

Bowl Games Dec 21 and Dec 23

Back in action with these Bowl games with many more plays coming up the next 2 weeks.

Top Plays:

Fresno St +6 and over 64
Buffalo +1.5
Ohio/E. Carolina over 62

Leans:

Washington St -6

Writeups:

Fresno St- I give Fresno St the big motivational edge here. USC is in transition mode and looking towards next year. Although Fresno did not finish the year undefeated, a win in this game gives one of their best football years all time. Believe me, that chance is huge for the coaches and they have been putting in OT to get the players ready.

As we know, Fresno St has one of college's best qb's. The Fresno defense will struggle against USC at times however Bulldogs offense will be relentless and will ensure the cover and do more than their part to get the over.

Buffalo- This has been a pretty underrated team all year. They have consistently played teams tough on both offense and defense. San Diego St had a nice turnaround in conference play however I was not all that impressed with the Mountain west this year. Buffalo will get the win today.

Ohio/ECU- A matchup of decent teams here, neither has a lot to play for and with that I expect both teams to excel at their strengths which for both teams is on the offensive side of the ball. I am expecting that this game will go over in the 3rd quarter and I can say thank you and then turn this one off.

College Football Championship Saturday

Here are y picks for the games today!

5 Star Play

Missouri +1 first half

Top Plays

Marshall/Rice over 61
Michigan St/Ohio St over 54
Stanford +3
Michigan St +5

Leans
Rice +6

Missouri- Missouri despite being in the loudest conference has gone about their business pretty quietly and this week all of the attention has been directed towards Auburn. I have great respect for what Auburn has done this season however I can't see how they could be distracted headed into this game. I expect Missouri to come out firing on all cylinders and to take the game to Auburn. Auburn may be able to recover and win the game but I think it will be another come from behind situation for them.

Marshall/Rice- These teams rely on their offenses and in a championship setting, the offenses will be counted on to do the heavy lifting. Look for an entertaining offensive game.

Michigan St- I think the Mich St offense is pretty underrated. In game when the defense has been in firm control the offense purposely plays pretty conservatively and controls field position. However when they have needed the offense to step up then they have risen to the occasion. I think the Buckeyes will be able to score 28-31 points on MSU however I don't think MSU will have trouble keeping pace. I like this game to come down to a field goal.

Stanford- ASU has been playing well however their PAC 10 schedule was pretty favorable and they took advantage of it. I don't think ultimately ASU is as good as their record indicates. Stanford had some unexpected stumbles but they match up very well against ASU. The Cardinal knows how to defend against speed times and will come out with the victory in this one.

Rice- Taking a flyer on Rice, I think this will be a last possession game and the Owls will win or lose by 4 or less.
