NBA 10/29

I am excited for the NBA, how about you?

Getting started with

Top Pick

Bulls +4.5

It is ring night for the heat, the bulls though will be all business in this one. Bulls will constantly attack the middle and remind the heat that they once again have a bullseye on.

College Football Picks 10/26- Part 2

Looking to closeout the early games with a Bama cover and successful part 1

Looking ahead, taking some familiar faces:

Top Picks:

Oregon Team Total over 49
Missouri -3 vs South Carolina
Baylor Team Total over 50

Leans

Colorado +12 vs Arizona

Writeups:

Oregon- The Ducks will be well motivated in this one. They are fighting to close out the distance in the BCS standings and will be returning home to a raucous crowd. Despite being banged up, UCLA will come to play and may be able to score on the Ducks. However, the Bruins defense will not handle the Ducks offense and they will again fly over 49 points.

Missouri- I underestimated them last week and get a chance for redemption this week. They have their defense working and the Pinkel offense is also primed. I have been fading USC more often than not and this is a great spot to pile on and go against the Gamecocks.

Baylor- The only time the Bears did not kill it was on the road. That was against a half decent team. Kansas however is bad, bad, bad. The Bears will trample them every which way. You can certainly lay the points here but Baylor going for +50 is a no brainer.

Colorado- Colorado's coach has done an amazing job and his motivation techniques will continue on here. His team will come out and play their best game which will be good enough to get the cover vs a mediocre Arizona road team.

College Football Picks- 10/26 Part 1

Getting up and out early tomorrow so hear are my early game picks.

Be back in the afternoon with the rest of my slate.

Top Picks

Rutgers -6.5 vs Houston
Northwestern/Iowa under 52.5
Alabama -28 vs Tennessee

Lean

Ball St Team Total over
Virginia +10 vs Ga Tech

Here are some short writeups:

Rutgers- power rankings favor Houston but I like Rutgers in a route.

NU/Iowa- both teams will lean on their defenses.

Bama- unless Bama completely gives this one up, it will be a rout.

Virginia- more of a fade of Ga Tech, they have been too up and down and Virginia will be ready for the option.

NBA 10/25

I have been stalking some NBA games. Jumping in with a preseason pick.

Top Pick

Bulls -5.5

Most teams will likely ease up a little on the last preseason game. Not the Bulls, even if the back ups play the majority, they will be going all out. This should be an easy win/cover here.

College Football Picks 10/19 Part 2

Plenty of action pending. Adding these games tonight.

Top Pick

Baylor Team Total over 55.5

Leans:

Clemson +5 (waiting for the line to continue to climb though)
Illinois Team Total over 21

Writeups...briefly

Baylor is back at home and will get back to their dominant self

Clemson- really just to have a side and to fade the public side

Illinois- Wisconsin is good defensively but not all that. Illinois will give them some work tonight.

College Football Picks 10/19 - Part 1

I have been waiting for a big Saturday and it has arrived.

5 Star Plays

Florida -3 vs Missouri
Indiana +9.5 vs Michigan
Stanford -4.5 vs UCLA
Arizona St -3.5 vs Washington

Top Picks

Northern Ill -15.5 vs c. Michigan
LSU/Mississipi over 60
Florida/Missouri Under 44

Leans
Houston +10 vs BYU
Utah +4 vs Arizona

Florida- Great spot for the Gators here. Catching Missouri off a big, emotional win and dealing with the loss of their qb. I do expect Missouri's defense to step up and play well however they will be on the field all day and will wear out. This will be a tough, gritty game and if you have Florida big, there will be some tense moments but the Gators will come through in the end.

Indiana- My twitter followers saw that I called this one out last Saturday after the Michigan loss. The wolverines will have a very tough time getting up for this game and not to mention that UM is just not that great of a team. Don't forget that they have struggled and really don't have a signature win. (Sorry ND does not count). Don't get sucked into the historical facts that IU can't beat Michigan at Michigan. It is very likely to happen here and the points are a given.

Stanford- On paper, UCLA should roll. They are a top 10 team, can spread Stanford out and Stanford struggled big time last week. The big stat for me is that despite all of the accolades coming to UCLA, Vegas made the Stanford a favorite. Since then the money has come in on UCLA just like the books had hoped. Be the smart one in the room and hit Stanford big!

Arizona St- Poor Washington, they are in the midst of a brutal schedule. On 2nd thought get a new AD who knows how to schedule better. First a tough loss to Stanford, then an emotional loss to Oregon and now they are headed to an ambush in the desert. Arizona St is a really good team at home and Washington will be out of gas in this one. Jump on this one as well. Easy.

Northern ILL- This team for some reasons does better with the big spreads on the road. C. Michigan is way down from the last time they beat the Huskies and will be in a for a beat down. NIU has the advantage at just about every position in talent.

LSU/Ole Miss- I am expecting a pretty high scoring game. LSU is not the type of team you want to face after a tough loss. I don't expect Ole Miss to lay down and although they will not stop LSU much, they will make it interesting with their offense.

Houston- Good spot for the Cougars to sneak away a win here. BYU has played a great schedule and will not be hyped to head to Houston. The Cougars have the better talent but they will not be sharp and Houston will give them all they can handle.

Utah- Just a lean here. Getting on the bandwagon late but I like them to bring their vastly improved offense against an Arizona team that is lacking. The Rich Rod struggles continue.

College Football 10/5 Part 2

2-3 on the AM picks, looking for a big evening with these games:

Top Picks

Vandy +2 vs Missouri
Notre Dame +6 vs Arizona St
Baylor/WVU over 70
Baylor Team Total over 50
NU +6.5 vs Ohio St

Lean

Stanford Team Total over 30.5
Colorado Team Total over 14.5

Writeups:

Vandy- Record wise, Mizzoo looks better on paper. However, we all know that Mizzoo has played a very soft schedule and probably are not as good as their record indicates. Vandy has played the more difficult schedule and I think that will count for something in this game. Mizzoo will make some big plays early however Vandy will not give in and will play this one all the way through and get the win.

Notre Dame- The Fighting Irish have been the team to fade so far this year but I am ready to get on their side this week. They played some pretty uninspired football last week and will not let that happen 2 weeks in a row. Arizona st meanwhile has been played well but the breaks have gone their way. They benefited from the refs vs. Wisconsin and then caught USC at the perfect time. The reality is that they are a good but not great team and will run into a motivated ND team. They might eek out the win but it will be closer than 6 points if they do.

Baylor- I have to keep going with the over on this team. They continue to put up points at a rapid pace. WVU pulled out a gritty win last week but they are facing a much different animal this week. I am sure that WVU will be happy to play in a fast paced game and will put up some points and the over will hit. However I don't see them stopping Baylor at any point. I am looking for a 66-45 type final.

NU- Everyone knows the hype on this one. The biggest reason I like NU is that Ohio St will be facing their first meaningful road game in quite a while. Eventhough they were undefeated last year, there was not much pressure on them. Especially once the BCS standings came out and they were no longer in the mix for the championship due to their violations. So they had some tough games which they won but essentially they were meaningless. This game however will knock them out of BCS championship contention if they lose. I look for the Buckeyes to tighten up quite a bit as this game progresses. NU will feed off that and will certainly cover the 6.5 and I will not be surprised if they win the game.

Stanford and Colorado- I am not sure what the outcomes ATS will be however I do like both teams to cover their team totals at home.

College Football Picks 10/5 Part 1

Tough break on Friday night's game with Utah St's qb going down early. That happens here and there, so time to move on to Saturday.

Top picks

Iowa -1.5 vs Michigan St
Virginia -3 vs Ball St
Va Tech/North Carolina under 45.5

Lean
Indiana/Penn st over 65.5
Illinois/Nebraska over 61

BIG part 2 coming up!!!

Write Ups

Iowa- This should be the proverbial nip and tuck game. Both teams will hit each other head on and see who cracks first. I like Iowa's QB and RB to be the difference in this one. The game will come down to who will make the critical mistake and I am confident that Iowa will not turn the ball over when it counts and MSU will.

Virginia- Ball St is the fashionable pick but I like Virginia to take care of business at home. Ball St has had a nice start vs low level opponents and has not gone on the road and won against a team of this caliber. Don't get caught in the hype and miss out on a relatively easy home winner here.

Va Tech/UNC- The Hokies are hitting their stride on defense and controlling the clock with their ball control offense. UNC is struggling on offense and they will need to limit turnovers in this one. This will be a low scoring affair with little excitement unless, like me, you are on the under.

Indiana/Penn St and Illinois/Nebraska- I am grabbing the over in both of these games. 3/4 are offensive minded and Penn St will be able to march up and down the field while their defense will not be able to shut down Indiana. Meanwhile Ill and Nebraska will count on their offenses to get it done for them.

Friday Night Football Pick

One Top Pick for tonight.

Utah St -6 vs. BYU

I have been Utah St several times this year and I really like them as they are finally at home to take on a quality opponent.

As with most college teams, the Aggies will be a different team at home than on the road. BYU has played a tough schedule and will not be a pushover however they have not been consistent on the road. Utah St will raise their level of play and will be able to win this one by 10+ points.

Back with a full slate for Saturday tomorrow AM.
